Job summary

The Operations Manager Benelux is responsible for overseeing the operations of Mobile Water Solutions in Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg). This role plays a critical role in ensuring seamless day-to-day operations and providing high-quality technical support installation, commissioning, and maintenance services for rental mobile water treatment equipment to customers in order to meet their needs and satisfaction.

Reports to

The Operations Manager Northern Europe reports to the European Operations and Technical Director.

Essential duties and responsibilities

Mobilizations:

  • Ensure the equipment is delivered to the customer’s site in a timely manner and ready to accept a mobile unit and if it is not, put in place the requirements to make a unit operational when deployed.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance, calibration, readiness of mobile water treatment units before deployment and personnel are available to meet the unit on arrival to hook up and commission.
  • Ensure that the unit runs according to requirements for the duration of the hire.
  • Ensure the required service visits are made during the contract, the maintenance on site is on the scope of the operations team.
  • Ensure that demobilization is managed in a timely manner and that the customer’s site is left in the condition the customer expects.

Transport management:

  • Manage and maintain the relationship with the haulier in booking and managing transport events.
  • Making sure transport costs are kept under control and are always competitive.
  • Renew and modify the contract.
  • Manage contingency planning.

Resource Management:

  • Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet project requirements and deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to logistics and transportation.
  • Monitor and optimize resource utilization (water treatment plant, the commissioning team, consumables, and spare parts) to minimize downtime and reduce costs while maintaining quality standards.
  • Identify training and development needs for team members and implement appropriate programs.
  • Ensure cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
  • Make data-driven decisions to achieve operational targets.
  • Monitor resource utilization and optimize workflows to minimize downtime and reduce costs.

Service management:

  • Ensure that the chosen personnel are provided with the appropriate training and are competent to perform the tasks required.
  • Engage the appropriate personnel at the start of a hire and for its duration.
  • Ensure that the engineering projects receive the necessary resources and materials to operate efficiently and meet the clients’ expectations.
  • Monitor the service provided and ensure that it meets our customers’ needs.
  • Manage out-of-hour calls and maintain a 24-hour response system in partnership with transport providers.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety procedures, policies and requirements are strictly always adhered to.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate with the sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for business growth and expansion.

Vendor and Supplier Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of all materials and components needed for the projects/mobilizations.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team.
  • Set clear performance goals and provide feedback and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.

Education and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a similar position – operations management, process engineering for water treatment, project management or related positions.
  • Good understanding of electro-mechanical and control & instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Budget management and cost control experience
  • A good level of English language to communicate effective and clear with both technical and non-technical personnel, including clients, team members, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency in one or more additional European languages including Dutch, German, or French is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Google Application Suite and/or Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)

Licensing/certifications

  • Possess a valid Driver’s License to drive in the region.
